Natural Reserve Monte Rufeno - Acquapendente (VT)
Only 8 Km away from Acquapendente (VT), on a hill near the nature park of Monte Rufeno, our peaceful and secluded indipendent farmhouse has a breathtaking view over river Paglia’s valley.
It is possible to book the house for 8/10 people. Even for just two persons, we offer a room at the ground floor with indipendent entrance, bathroom, kitchenette and air-conditioning.

Its beautiful position – between Umbria and Tuscany – allows to make several excursions in about 30-40 km.
To the north, the wonderful landscapes of Val d’Orcia, Montalcino, San Casciano’s termal baths and the historical towns of Pienza and Montepulciano.
To the west, the Etruscan towns of Sovana, Sorano and Pitigliano and Saturnia’s termal baths.
To the south, Bolsena lake, the medieval Viterbo; further, Rome, the Eternal City, three millenniums of history all in one breath.
To the east, Città della Pieve, Perugino’s homeland, and Orvieto with its magnificent cathedral.
Outdoor
Casale Fornello is surrounded by an equipped, large and private garden. Our grapes and trees make this space always breezy and relaxing. In the paved outdoor area, with large wood-burning oven and barbecue, our guests can easily cook. At your disposal, chairs, tables, big umbrellas and sun-beds. The view from the garden is really amazing: Acquapendente and Proceno towns are just in front of the farmhouse; on the right, there's the sunset over Monte Amiatas top.
Indoor
Casale Fornello has 2 double bedrooms and 2 twin-bedded rooms. Baby-bed is also available. On request, we can add two more beds.
Besides, you’ll find two bathrooms (one with shower and bath, one with shower), the kitchen with washing-dishes machine and a spacious living/dining room with fireplace.
Central heating. Downstairs, another big living room with piano and sofas is available for the guests.
The washing machine and the ironing set are in the laundry.
Special events
The large existing hall of 200-sqm in the basement area, recently renovated, anciently housed the old byre: Today it has been turned in to a great place for cookery courses, yoga classes, events and convenient for conferences. The floor is tiled in cotto, the old mangers has been turned into seats and in the middle of the room there is a large thermo-fireplace for the colder months.
The great outdoor fully enclosed garden of over 2.500 sqm, is available for larger events such as weddings and personal parties..
With its own entrance , the byre, might also be booked separately. For your special meeting and enquiries, we include upon request a catering service (vegan and gluten free included) and cake design. The wood-burning oven and a stone barbecue enrich the outdoor porch.
Where We Are
Take the A1 motorway (Milan-Naples), exit Orvieto, follow signs to Acquapendente; otherwise choose the SS 2 Cassia, it connects Rome to Siena but it’s slower. Once at Acquapendente, follow direction to Siena; 3 km outside the build-up area, nearby the bridge on Paglia’s river, turn right into the cross road toward Monte Rufeno’s Natural Reserve entrances and go ahead till the signs for the entrance N° 3 (on the left). Carry on the uphill dirt road for about 3 km and at the following cross road turn on the left, our farmhouse is the first one you meet.
